In order to provide the best service, libraries are open for scheduled service whenever possible. The library is, however, concerned about the safety of its employees, volunteers, and patrons. During extreme weather conditions, the director may close the West Buxton Public Library. If the library director is not available, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees may close the Library.

If the library director or the chairman cannot be reached, the volunteer on duty may make the decision that is best for the safety of all.

The news media will be notified of any closings through the director's office and can be seen on News 8 WMTW's First Warning Weather Team.
