So, I’ve been posting lots of new books and audiobooks that we’ve been adding to the library lately. Well, now I’d like to introduce some fun children’s books that I’m adding to our collection. These were a favorite with my children and I was surprised we didn’t have any of these in our collection before. I needed to remedy that! Mo Willems writes wonderful, silly stories about a pigeon who doesn’t always like being told what he can and cannot do. I highly recommend these simple, fun books for your children. Here are the ones I’ve just added to our shelves:
Holiday Hours: We will be closed for Christmas Thursday, Dec. 25th and Saturday, Dec. 27th. We will also close on New Year’s day, Thursday, Jan. 1st. We will be open on Dec. 30th if you need to satisfy your reading addiction (ahhhh, those vacation days, perfect for curling up with a good book!)
Did you know….? You can get a Portland Public Library card right here in our little town library! This is their regular library card which will allow you to access all of their audio books, e-books, as well as going in and checking out their vast collection of books! For more information on what is required to get a card, check out this Portland Public Library page. Come on in and see Amy for your card!
We have a winner!! The winner of the snowshoe raffle is Zeke Parent!! Congratulations Zeke!! Thank you to all who participated in this raffle!
Have you ever considered becoming a volunteer at the library?
We have a few openings right now to work along side the Library Director
Tuesday nights from 4-6pm during the winter months (until about May, but that can be flexible).
Saturday mornings from 9-11am or 11-1pm
In January we will have an opening for every other Tuesday night from 6-8pm.
We are looking for anyone who would be willing to do whatever is needed. Because we’re a small library and mostly volunteer-staffed, the job description covers everything from checking books in and out, shelving books, cleaning, etc. This is a great opportunity to meet others in the community and find out about great books and authors.
We’re also interested in having a list of substitute volunteers we can call on when a “regular” volunteer can’t come in (we keep a schedule handy, so we know when people will be on vacation or have prior commitments)
Please contact Amy if you are interested. Thank you!!
It’s not too late to enter into the snowshoe raffle!!
The Tuesday after Thanksgiving, December 2nd, we will be drawing a name to win 2 pairs of snowshoes! The snowshoes were handmade from a kit and donated to the library to raffle off. Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10. Come on in to the library to fill out your tickets for a chance to win!
